The Düsseldorf parish, together with the Bonn and Dortmund parishes, organized the visit of lecturer Fr. Dr. Constantin Necula to the Westphalia deanery over the weekend of 30 October–1 November.
The renowned priest, appreciated for his beautiful spiritual teachings, arrived from Sibiu and, over three days, celebrated the Divine Liturgy with the parish priests and delivered several spiritual conferences attended by many Romanian faithful and priests from this part of Germany.
The visit began on 30 October 2015 with the conference “Orthodoxy as a Way of Life,” held at the Düsseldorf parish, where, besides many faithful, Fr. Nicolae Abuziloaie (Duisburg), Fr. Cătălin Preda (Bonn), Fr. Ispas Ruja (Dortmund), and Fr. Cosmin Stan (Mönchengladbach) also took part.
On Saturday morning, 31 October 2015, the professor celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Bonn parish with a concelebration of priests, joined by Protopresbyter Iosif-Cristian Rădulescu, parish priest Cătălin Preda, and Fathers Nicolae Abuziloaie and Adi Neștian. After the Liturgy, Fr. Necula delivered the conference “Landmarks of Pastoral Care in the Diaspora,” answering many questions from the participants.
That evening, at 18:30, the professor was with the Dortmund parish, speaking on “Life in Christ from the Perspective of Family” and, as usual, responding to the faithful’s questions.
On Sunday, 1 November 2015, the professor celebrated the Divine Liturgy with Protopresbyter Iosif-Cristian Rădulescu at the Düsseldorf parish. As the day before, Fr. Constantin Necula commemorated all who tragically lost their lives in the Colectiv club fire in Bucharest. He also offered a beautiful homily, reminding the faithful of the importance of the baptismal garment we received at Holy Baptism and emphasizing the values that guide us toward heaven. “Fr. Constantin Necula greatly gladdened the souls of the faithful who came to listen. It was amazing to see the faces of hundreds of people around him fill with joy, peace, and hope. His words set you on a path of living faith, hope, and love,” said Protopresbyter Iosif-Cristian Rădulescu.
The visit provided a powerful spiritual boost on the threshold of the Nativity Fast, with both clergy and faithful expressing their desire to welcome the professor back soon.
