On Sunday, 3 December 2017, the Düsseldorf parish hosted the children’s traditional St. Nicholas Celebration. Organized in two groups, our parish children offered a beautiful artistic program with testimonies, poems, and Romanian carols.
The younger children shared the joy of carols and winter poems, while the older ones spoke to those present about the goodness that sanctifies a person. Each testimony highlighted profound aspects of kindness and its fruits in a person’s life and in society, with the life of St. Nicholas as an example.
The event was made possible through the combined efforts of teachers Ioana Pașca and Simona Ilea Pop, responsible for Sunday School, supported this year by teacher Miruna Sandu and Dr. Roxana Voicu.
“It was a special event for me. I could not have imagined that these children, whom we see receiving Communion Sunday after Sunday, could say such surprising things and be so determined,” said Mrs. Lucica Hartmann, deeply moved.
Protopresbyter Iosif-Cristian Rădulescu expressed gratitude to the entire teaching staff involved in the religious education of the community’s children, congratulating the teachers for their exceptional care and attention each Sunday. “I also thank the parents who, with consistency and keen interest, strive to offer their children this experience in the Church. Here the children strive not only to know their faith but also to learn Romanian better, get to know one another, and do beautiful things together,” the parish priest said.
At the end, the children received fine gifts left by St. Nicholas, which each of them accepted with great enthusiasm, leaving in everyone’s hearts a strong sense of joy.
