On Monday, 13 May 2024, a memorial service was held for Protopresbyter Emilian Vasiloschi, founder of the Düsseldorf parish, who fell asleep in the Lord in 1966.
The commemoration coincided with “Paștile Blajinilor,” the tradition of remembering the departed on the Monday immediately after Thomas Sunday.
On this occasion, the cross at Fr. Emilian’s grave was blessed; the grave was restored through the generosity of our community members. The cross was donated by the families Aurica Iacoban and Florentina Poiană.
Faithful from our parish prepared red eggs, pască, cozonac, and other offerings to honor the memory of Fr. Emilian, who labored zealously for the spiritual growth of Romanian Orthodox believers in Germany and beyond.
The event was a moment of fellowship and a natural gesture of gratitude and appreciation for the sacrifice and suffering Fr. Emilian endured throughout his years of ministry.
