The Nativity Fast began with great joy and special events in the Düsseldorf parish.
On Saturday, 23 November 2024, our parish celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy, served by His Eminence Serafim, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, together with priests and deacons. His Eminence’s presence, blessing, and exhortations strengthened the faithful’s desire to deepen personal and community prayer.
On Sunday, 24 November 2024, after the Divine Liturgy, the Parish Library Readers were awarded; the library celebrated seven years of continual activity, supported by Ruxandra Ioana Grou and members of ATORG Düsseldorf. Immediately after the awards, artists Luiza and Ghislain Portier offered an instrumental recital of Romanian and international carols that warmed and gladdened everyone present.
On Saturday, 30 November 2024, after the Divine Liturgy in honor of St. Andrew the Apostle, the Apostle of the Romanians, the parish children held their Christmas Workshop. Project organizers Ruxandra Bâgu and Adina Popescu guided the children as they created Christmas-themed crafts.
On Sunday, 1 December 2024, after the Divine Liturgy, a Te Deum was served in honor of Romania’s National Day. Protopresbyter Dr. Iosif Cristian Rădulescu spoke about the gift and calling of the Romanian people to proclaim God in the world through an authentic Christian commitment worthy of the talents entrusted to us.
A festive greeting was also delivered by Simona Ilea Pop, president of the Romanian Teachers Association in NRW, and Dr. Iulian Iordache, spokesperson of the Romanian Doctors Association in NRW.
After the service, baritone Cătălin Moței of the Düsseldorf Opera, together with children from the Düsseldorf parish and Deacon Ovidiu Marius Cioară, offered a festive musical moment in honor of Romania’s National Day. The performance was received with much joy and emotion by all present.
We thank everyone who puts heart and soul into the Church’s work of keeping us united in the true faith and preserving our Romanian identity alive.
