Service for the Laying of the Foundation Stone
Published on 22 May 2026

On Thursday, 21 May 2026, on the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord and of Saints Constantine and Helena, the Romanian Orthodox parish “Holy Trinity” and “Saint Nicholas”, the oldest Romanian Orthodox parish in Germany, experienced historic moments at the service for the laying of the foundation stone of the first Romanian Orthodox church in Düsseldorf.
The event began with the service for laying the foundation stone of the future church, celebrated by His Eminence Metropolitan Serafim, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, together with an impressive assembly of priests and deacons.
His Eminence congratulated the community and the parish priest for all the efforts made so far toward building their own place of worship and recalled how special this calling is: to build a resting place for God.
After the service and Metropolitan Serafim’s address, official greetings were offered to the community by Acting Consul Raluca Umbrărescu, District Mayor Melina Schwanke, and representatives of the Roman Catholic Church, Florian Ganslmeier, and the Evangelical Church, Heinrich Fucks.
A special address was given by Archpriest Radu Constantin Miron, who was baptized by Archpriest Emilian Vasiloschi himself, the founder of our parish.
Archpriest Iosif-Cristian Rădulescu thanked everyone for participating and for the community’s support, which showed the strong spirit of unity in prayer and service needed for this new beginning.
The event concluded with a fraternal agape meal, prepared with great dedication by generous members of the Düsseldorf parish.
