Patronal Feast, June 2015#

On Pentecost Sunday, the “Sfânta Treime” Parish in Düsseldorf celebrated its patronal feast together with many faithful from Düsseldorf and the surrounding area.

The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Dr. Serafim Joantă, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, together with Protopresbyter Iosif Cristian Rădulescu, Fr. Emanuel Mitu from the Cologne parish, Archdeacon Martin Lissmann, Deacon Dumitru Dura, and Subdeacon Nikolaj Thon, the Secretary-General of the Orthodox Bishops’ Conference in Germany.

Also present were the pastor of the host church, Ansgar Steinke, Mr. Liviu Mihăilă from the Consulate General of Romania in Bonn, and Mrs. Livia Grama-Medilanski, president of the Romanian-German cultural association “Atheneum” in Düsseldorf.

In his homily, the Metropolitan spoke about the spiritual work of unity that the Holy Spirit accomplishes in the hearts of the faithful, and about the constant effort of altar servers to preserve and strengthen this unity in the Holy Church.

After the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence celebrated the Pentecost Vespers and anointed the faithful, granting each the archpastoral blessing and the joy of personal encounter.

The feast continued with the festive meal at the Pestalozzi Haus, lovingly prepared by the parish women’s committee. The surprise guest, folk singer Maria Dan Păucean, enlivened the atmosphere with traditional songs.

Thus Pentecost Sunday was a special day for the faithful of the Düsseldorf parish, filled with prayer and the joy of being together in the spirit of the feast.
