On Friday, 9 September 2016, Fr. Conf. Dr. Constantin Necula and Mother Siluana Vlad held the spiritual conference “Value Your Life!” at the “Sfânta Treime” / “Sfântul Nicolae” Parish in Düsseldorf. The conference was a special event for the faithful of our parish and for those who came from other parishes to hear the two speakers together for the first time.
After speaking to the faithful in Koblenz (Fr. Mircea Deac), Fr. Constantin Necula was on Saturday evening among the Romanians of the Duisburg parish (Fr. Nicolae Abuziloaie). At the same time, on Saturday evening, 10 September 2016, Mother Siluana gave a talk on humility in the Dortmund parish (Fr. Ispas Ruja).
The joy that these two distinguished guests brought to the faithful of the NRW deanery who attended the conferences was overwhelming and a sign of their desire for spiritual growth.
On Sunday, 11 September 2016, the two guests were at the Düsseldorf parish and took part in the Divine Liturgy with many faithful present. Fr. Conf. Dr. Constantin Necula offered a homily highlighting the link between the Holy Cross and the Holy Eucharist, explaining the need to understand and bear the cross so that we can then receive the Lord’s Body and Blood. Mother Siluana also addressed the faithful at the end of the Divine Liturgy, speaking about the importance of the difference between “the fear of God” and “fear of God,” urging them to grow in the fear of God and to grasp God’s esteem for humankind.
The joy was completed by the emotion of bridal songs sung by children of the “Good Children for Europe” Association from Brașov, led by Mr. Sorin Suciu, who gifted the Düsseldorf parish a roadside cross (troiță) they carved during their summer camp at the monastery in Sâmbăta de Sus. It was both encouragement in the parish’s desire and prayer to obtain its own church and a call to sacrificial effort to fulfill this great desire.
