The Tree of Joy, a Festive Event#

On Sunday, 17 December 2023, the parish center in Wersten hosted the event “Tree of Joy.” The parish program is intended for children and adults who enjoy decorating the Düsseldorf parish tree together.

This year too, the tree was adorned in an atmosphere of carols where each of us rediscovered the emotion of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ. The children sang, played, enjoyed the treats brought by the adults, and warmed themselves around the fire set up in the parish yard. The adults also rejoiced to spend time together and to share thoughts in the same festive atmosphere.

The parish event was coordinated by the family of Adina and Ionuț Popescu, joined by a crowd of people eager to prepare a place where the young and old alike could feel at home—in true faith and in soul-nourishing fellowship.

At the end of the event, a lit tree remained shining, standing symbolically for the eternal life to which we are called by the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ—a life we cannot attain without kindling in our souls the light of faith in God’s eternal love.
