On Sunday, December 7, 2025, the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Düsseldorf, celebrating its patronal feast in honour of Saint Nicholas the Hierarch, experienced the joy of a distinguished episcopal visit. His Eminence Dr. Serafim, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, celebrated the Divine Liturgy together with priests and deacons.
During the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence ordained Deacon Ovidiu Marius Cioară to the priesthood for the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Kevelaer.
Father Ovidiu Marius Cioară served as deacon of the Düsseldorf Parish for nearly ten years, demonstrating steadfastness, devotion, and great dedication to the work of the Church.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence delivered a sermon, urging the faithful to open their hearts to the needs of their neighbours and to follow God and His saints through deeds of mercy and compassion.
Following the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence, together with the faithful present, participated in the traditional Saint Nicholas celebration organised by the parish.
This year, the children gave special attention to the sixteen Romanian saints canonised in 2025, presenting them to the community both by enumeration and through brief words of teaching.
They also performed Christmas carols dedicated to His Eminence and all those present.
The Metropolitan congratulated the children, the parents, and the teachers from the Association of Romanian Teachers in NRW, who support the Sunday School of the Düsseldorf Parish.
The celebration of the Düsseldorf Parish concluded in an atmosphere of exquisite joy and profound gratitude for the blessings bestowed by God on this special day.
