First Confession

On Sunday, 22 May 2022, after a two-year pause due to the pandemic, the “Sf. Treime” Parish in Düsseldorf once again held the closing celebration of the children’s catechetical program “First Confession.” As always, the event was a special moment for both the children participating and their families.

We especially noticed the children’s eagerness and impatience to take part in this celebration.

The event has already become a well-known and appreciated tradition for parish members and beyond. With the support of teachers Simona Ilea Pop, Ioana Pașca, and Miruna Sandu, the children prepared and presented moving testimonies about peace and love, inspired by the teachings of Holy Scripture and patristic writings.

Speaking about peace and love in a world troubled by war and hatred is not easy, but when you hear these words from the pure hearts of children, you gain the courage to believe in a better world. The children were listened to with great emotion by everyone present and admired by those who will take part next year in the “First Confession” religious education program.

After the event, the children spent the afternoon together in one of Düsseldorf’s largest parks. Members of Romanian-German mixed families also attended and especially appreciated that such a program exists for children in the Orthodox Church.
