Parish Education Gala

On Sunday, 6 July 2025, the Düsseldorf parish hosted the Parish Education Gala.
The event opened with the closing ceremony of the catechetical program “First Confession,” where the children who turned 7 and attended the parish school offered moving testimonies about the value and strength of Christian courage. In turn, they received the community’s joyful acknowledgment of having them in its midst.
Next came a first in the community’s history: the Graduation Ceremony of the “St. Nicholas” Sunday School in Düsseldorf. The teenagers who successfully completed the parish school—some of whom had attended these classes for 14 years—enjoyed a special program through which the community expressed its appreciation for their effort to learn foundational Romanian language, culture, and Orthodox faith. After a short film highlighting memorable moments from 14 years of Sunday School, created by teacher Simona Pop, the graduates of the “St. Nicholas” Parish School received a diploma and an invitation to become school volunteers.
The Düsseldorf parish thanked the educators of the Romanian Teachers Association in NRW who actively support the parish school. A message of gratitude was conveyed by Dr. Laurențiu Benga, vice president of the parish council.
Protopresbyter Dr. Iosif Cristian Rădulescu read a message of thanks and congratulations from His Eminence Dr. Serafim Joantă, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, addressed to the teachers of the Romanian Teachers Association in NRW, in which His Eminence expressed deep appreciation for the effort and fruits of their long-standing dedication.
At the end, the entire community was pleasantly surprised by the gesture of 16 entrepreneurs from the Düsseldorf parish who offered a joint donation to support the “St. Nicholas” Parish School in Düsseldorf and the Romanian Teachers Association in NRW, wholeheartedly involved in this essential educational project for preserving and promoting Romanian identity.
“Today’s event has been an outpouring of grace on our parish. Words can hardly express the joy of seeing so many people unite to powerfully support God’s work. All these wonderful people—teachers, parents, children, and entrepreneurs—who through their concrete support showed such esteem and interest for the values of the Romanian soul, are a living witness that goodness resonates in hearts in love with beauty and with God. I am overwhelmed by such dedication and involvement,” said Protopresbyter Dr. Iosif Cristian Rădulescu with emotion.
6 July 2025 remains in our parish history as a testimony to the strength of a community that is attentive to the needs of the children who will shape tomorrow’s world.
