Violin Recital

On Sunday, 25 March 2018, the Feast of the Annunciation, the Düsseldorf parish enjoyed a special moment. Alexandru Semeniuc, a student at the University of Cologne’s Faculty of Music, offered a short violin recital to honor both the feast of the Mother of God and the centenary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania.

The artistic program brought to listeners masterpieces by Romanian composers George Enescu and Ciprian Porumbescu, as well as other traditional pieces.

Alexandru Semeniuc graduated as valedictorian from the “George Enescu” Music High School in Bucharest in 2017 and was admitted to the Faculty of Music in Cologne (Wuppertal campus). From childhood he has taken part in numerous competitions, earning recognition and awards—the latest being the Grand Prize at the national “Victor Giuleanu” competition in Bucharest in 2017.

“It was a delight for me to bring such joy to the Romanian Orthodox faithful of the Düsseldorf parish. It’s wonderful when you use your gift and feel that this beautiful instrument, the violin, can soothe people’s souls so deeply. I am also happy about the remarkable people I met in the Düsseldorf parish. Among them I felt at home,” said Alexandru Semeniuc.
